Perspective on a scout flotilla consisting of a Usurper class cruiser and 2 Yyzvolín class frigates. The distance between the ships has been compressed because space is a more spacious than artistically responsible most of the time when it comes to space ships flying in formation and w/e.
A rough schematic diagram to the workings of saurai flak cannons
Like most saurai weapon systems, the basic flak cannons employed en-masse by the fleets of the various legions are in many ways an apostasy of simplicity: combining traditional explosive propulsion with rocket propulsion and Gaussian (coilgun) propulsion. The benefits of guided munitions with their high initial dV and a trend towards relatively high rates of fire apparantly make them ideally suited to the ultra-short range scenarios that are ubiquitous in a contested orbit scenario.
Most saurai flak cannons have a maximum effective engagement range of 0.25-0.5ls and are notable for their lack of a minimum effective engagement range. Their ammunition is produced shipboard in the case of larger ships. In smaller ships they are stocked up via the use of ammunition teleporters. This stock of ammo spreads more evenly spreads out the energy usage of flak weapon systems across the engagement and allows them to operate at a punishing rate of fire should something stray within effective weapon range. When no targets are within effective engagement range, flak cannons are often fired at a highly reduced rate of fire over the course of a battle.

Mk. 3 Raptor Ausf. A
Considered the pinnacle of Saurai armoured might, the mk. 3 incorporates elements of the Carnivore light tank’s once-revolutionary squinted turret in order to allow for proper mounting of it’s deadly signature weapon - the Antimatter Projection Cannon. Apart from the new turret and gun, the hull only differs slightly from the mk.2 raptor, although it is has been slightly streamlined and slightly reduced in posture. Internally, the chassis has received considerable upgrades and have been subjected to considerable re-arranging and compared to the mk.2, improving performance but mainly to facilitate the modules needed to safely operate it’s Antimatter Projection Cannon in a combat enviorment. The design of the later-developed mk.2 “Fat Brother” Omnivore draws heavily from the mk. 3 Raptor. Several variations of the vehicle were designed but never made it past prototyping, leaving variant A as the only model within it’s mark.

long overdue, but at long last a (less liss im-)proper map of Loq. The eastern bits are still a bit too empty for my tastes tho :/
